I've had Springsteen by Eric Church stuck in my head for days. Which is sad because I can't listen to WMZQ here.
In other news, I am a terrible blogger. I have so much to write about but I haven't been blogging! I'll start with my Spanish Mom accusing us of getting her sick. She isn't very healthy to begin with but this is bad. Her breathing sounds like she has emphysema and she coughs so loudly I've been sleeping in my earplugs. The other night we saw her cough in our food while making dinner and I don't think I've ever been so repulsed. She can barely move and we're so ready to leave Madrid just so we don't make her worse.
Tomorrow is my last day of class in Madrid and Wednesday is my final exam! I feel like we haven't covered enough material to get 3 credits, but I'll let it slide. Class isn't bad at all for being four and a half hours long.
Anyway ... to last week! We (Michelle, Annie, Izzy and I) went to the Madrid zoo on Thursday! It was a lot of fun and it was surprisingly big with a lot of animals and a huge aquarium. We were the only people there between the ages of 10 and 30 so we got some weird looks.
This was my best attempt at taking a selfie with a large fish.
On Friday we had an excursion to Salamanca. It was such a cool city, the University of Salamanca is known for being the best college in Spain so there's a lot of young people there. The city is called the "golden city" because all the buildings are made from yellow stone. I loved it!
On Saturday we went to Segovia; the coolest part was the castle we toured. It felt like I was in a movie and I braved climbing the narrowest tunnel of stairs in the entire world to see the view from the tower. It was amazing, you could see the whole city and countryside! If I lived in the 11th century I would've totally been jealous of its inhabitants.
On Sunday we had a free day so we woke up early and went to this cool flea market called the Rastro. I didn't buy much but it was cool to walk around and shop. We ate at the market again for lunch ... it will never get old. Ever.
Today I went on a run through Retiro park which is right next to school. I stumbled upon the peacock garden so obviously I took a selfie with the peacocks, it's so weird how they just wander the park! Then we took a nap on the grass in the park. Retiro is so beautiful and it's weird how there's so much grass and trees in the middle of the city. I'm not complaining!
I only have two days left in Madrid. This weekend we travel until ending up in Alicante on Sunday. Madrid was everything I hoped it would be and more; I've had so much fun just wandering the city and finding things to do. I definitely want to come back here and visit again, not to mention practice my Spanish. I'm not going to be happy leaving on Thursday ....... but I'll end up on a beach resort on the Mediterranean so I think I'll get over it pretty quickly. ¡Adios!
